I Love Rock 'N Roll

Ignore how adorably chubby I am.
Someone is 9 weeks.  And yes, she is a kicking, squirming machine.  She could show Jane Fonda how it's done in one of those 80's workout videos- this girl kicks all day long!  They may not look like much, but those are thighs of steel.  Our new thing this week is shaking our head rapidly back and forth for fun.  I pretend she's like a Magic 8 Ball and ask her all sorts of questions, but she always shakes her head no for the answer.  I've just learned to rephrase all my questions to get my desired answer.  We'll teach her to shake her head yes one of these days.

I took her to her first (and last!) Pediatric Conference in downtown Indianapolis this week.  I don't know why after the disaster of my interview that I thought this would be a good idea, but I took her anyways.  About 30 minutes into the pediatric surgeon's presentation, someone decided to liven things up by screaming.  It was kind of boring, I'll give her that.  So she got her wishes and got to go play with everyone at the check-in table instead for the rest of the morning... little stinker.  The check-in table people were so sad that they got to cuddle this little smiling chubster for an hour and a half.  Darn :)

She had her 2 month appointment (yes, with shots and all...) and wowsa!  This girl is not at risk of fading away.  Hitting 75% for weight... already at 12 lbs 4 oz... save some chub for the other babies, Lilah!  She's is 90% for height at 23.5 inches!  We'll see where she is at 4 months, but I doubt those little thighs are getting any smaller anytime soon!

Just dancing away.

Thanks for the outfit Allie!  Showing off one of her new WubbaNub paci's!  Loving it!

Racing Time!

Ladies and Gentlemen, start your engines.  It's Memorial Day weekend in Indianapolis and it's racing time!

Ben and I got a last minute offer to go to the Indy 500 with one of his attending's.  Even though the race only takes 3 hours, the event from beginning to end took over 9 hrs with traffic included.  Nuts. We even got to experience our first police escort as our buses drove from dowtown to the Speedway area... not bad and pretty entertaining!  We did appreciate skipping 3 hours of traffic with the escort.

Coolest mini banana ever!

The biggest event I've ever been to was a college football game with 80,000 fans.... this one was 380,000 fans in the stands.  The crowds were crushing.  It was awesome though!!!!!  I am totally a converted Indy Car fan.  Not to mention that all these Indy car drivers are young and cute.  Ben picked Kanaan ("TK") to win, I picked Castronoves... I hate it when Ben beats me!  But it was still very exciting to see Kanaan beat out the other drivers in the last few laps... even though the race ended on a yellow.  Being so close to cars going 200+ mph was insane.  My mom had been when she was a little girl because my grandpa was a big Indy car fan... so it was pretty cool to be there for that reason also. I never thought I would enjoy the race- but I LOVED it!  I'll be seeing you next year!

I Feel Pretty!

Oh the joy of dressing up your little poopsie princess every morning!  She's not a big fan of headbands or dresses yet... but we'll get there.  She rocks it out most days in sleepers.  Clothes is something Lilah will not run out of soon :)

Homeward Bound

Panda + Lilah = fun times
Prepare yourself for pictures... this one's loaded.

We couldn't wait to travel back to "The Good Life" to have Lilah meet family and friends!  Rooney pretty much had the good life on the drive out though, I should've called shotgun earlier.  So, I was stuck in the backseat, while Rooney lounged on his bed in the front seat... what a cute little punk.  But we enjoyed the ride out by naming all of Lilah's toys and telling her all the cool things about her "homeland", Nebraska.

Rooney is mocking me in this picture

Lilah was an angel on the 10 hr drive.  We only stopped twice but found having a dog and a baby challenging at the stops.  Ben and I had to play rock-paper-scissors-lizard-spock to see who would go to the bathroom first and who would stay with Rooney & Lilah.  But we managed :)  The ride back wasn't so smooth, Lilah had a lot more to talk and yell about.

Lilah was 7 weeks old when went back to Husker Land.  We thought she would be so excited about seeing Memorial Stadium, the new Arena and meeting tons of cool people- but she really just wanted to lay on a quilt, kick her legs and be cute. Sheesh.  My mom found my brother's quilt made by our great-grandma and Lilah partied the week away on it.  It waas covered in nursery rhyme characters- a few of which I think are made up (Lucky Locket?? and Ten O'Clock Scholar??)... but google solved the mystery.  We have decided Lilah has a bright future as a light inspector... no pun intended (Bryan actually taught her already how to spot bulbs that are out also... quite a few of these in the Otto ceiling....)

Lilah-kins really gets no attention at all
